COLCOT-T2D

Colchicine and non-enteric coated aspirin in the cardiovascular outcomes trial of patients with type 2 diabetes.

The COLCOT-T2D study is investigating whether an anti-inflammatory medication commonly used to treat gout, and a widely available anti-platelet pain reliever, used together or alone, can reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, or other cardiovascular complications in people with type 2 diabetes and no previous history of cardiovascular events.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

Are aged 55 to 80 years old, or 45 to 80 years old and identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Have never had a cardiovascular event, such as a heart attack or stroke.

Participation in this trial is expected to last approximately 36 months and involves taking study medication daily. The initial and 6 monthly follow up visits will be conducted via telephone or video call.
